dimmer switch

I noticed in one of your other responses that a dimmer switch may not be allowed with fluorescent lighting. I was planning on putting a 600 watt dimmer switch on 4 new recessed 13 watt fluorescent lights? Is this ok. Thanks

ONly fluourescent light fixtures with electronic ballast listed and UL approved for use with dimmers are allowed to be controlled by a dimmer. If you try to dim a fluourescent ballast that is not listed and approved to be with a dimmer then you are creating a fire hazard that will overheat your fluourscent ballast.
