Just bought a new house built in 82. No GFCI anywhere. Already installed in both bathrooms. Want to install in kitchen on "sink side" wall. Two outlets, in parallel. Second outlet fed off of first. No problem- replaced second outlet. First "main" outlet, is fed by TWO pairs of wires. With a third pair feeding off to the second outlet (now a GFCI). The GFCI receptacles I bought said that they cannot be used where power is fed by two sets of wires. What do I do? Can I just combine the two feeder pairs into one and feed the GFCI, or is there another process?

Worked as an electrican's assistant for a summer and got a degree in EE, so not afraid to do wiring work (except for 220/240- to me, three phase is for the pros).

My first house and the adventure begins.

Combine the two feeds under a wire nut B/B, W/W, G/G. Install a pigtail from the wire nut to the line side of the GFCI. Install the other Recpt. (No GFCI) to the load side of the GFCI.
Let us know how things worked out.
