I need some help. I was installing a new fan location in my family room. Their was an existing light switch that that was connected to a outlet. Well, I went in the attic and broke that line and put a j box and fed off that to the ceiling fan. After making all the connections for the ceiling fan I fliped the breakers back on and nothing happen. I have lost power to my kitchen lights, back porch light, living room and breakfast. I was really fustrated. I check all the wire connections. I still don't know whats wrong. The type of wire that I cut and spliced was a 14/3 600 volt. wire. I have know idea how they wired my house. Does someone have any ideas. Thanks[/code]

Look in the switch box is it (14/3) the only wire in there?
Post back and let us know please.
Very much fixable.

Disconnect and wire nut the wires going to the fan separately dead ending that cable not connected to anything for a bit. Then try the breaker again. If you have lights and all back to normal then we have time to research what I think Aphares if looking for. Just a thought to get you back to running until you find what you did wrong.
