I am replacing an old garage door opener. The wall switch is wired with yellow, red, black, and white. The new switch only accommodates red, white. Which colors do I place together and/or ignore and tape off? Thanks very much for the help, it is greatly appreciated.

I am suspecting your old GDOpener had a light switch and a door opertaion switch. You new GDopener I am suspecting has only a Door operational switch with built in auto lights.

You should be able to tape off any two wires and connect the two remaining wires to the new GDOpener wall control. Which color to which shouldn't matter. The wall control should only be a momentary contact switch.

Many different GDOpeners out on the market. But hitting you with the most expected scenerio as you discribed it.

If you have the type GDO that I am suspecting you only need a momentary contact. Once you install your door opener you should have two screws on the back of the door opener. If you strike contact between these two screws I am expecting your door operator to start its run cycle.

Let us know how you come out.
