Hello,
I am refinishing the family room in my basement, getting ride of the old 70’s looking paneling and using drywall. The existing electric in the family area is a 20 amp circuit. It was there when we bought the house. The lights are basic porcelain base with a 75 watt light bulb. I would like to put recessed lighting about 6 of them and wanted to know if I need to find 20 amp lights or will standard recessed lights work. I’m worried about over heating the wires.
Thanks
Jack

There is no specific fixture for a 15 or 20 amp circuit. Same fixture for either circuit.

When adding the fixtures, keep an eye on the total wattages for the particular circuit. Generally 1,920 watts max. for a 20A 120V circuit
