Hello,
I would like changing my light switches leading to my basement from a one light switch at the top of the stair to two switches, one at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom. The one switch at the top of the stairs I would like to use a motion sensor switch and have a regular 3 way toggle switch at the bottom. I wanted to find a schematic diagram of how to change the wiring.
Thanks
Jack

Boy you said a lot in a few words.

Changing from a single pole switch in one location to a three way switch to control the same light or lights in two locations is one problem.

Then to make one of the two three way switches an occupancy switch may not be possible.

First we need to confirm that you can buy a three way occupancy switch. Not sure and havn't done that one before. Occupancy sensors are normally installed to control light as you enter and keep the light on while you are there. The off timing can be adjusted to delay for time of your exit.

What you would normally do with an occupancy sensor is to place the occupancy sensor in a location that will sense entry into the stairway from either the top or bottom and keep the light on until you are no longer in the stairway area. Then you would install an occupancy sensor in your basement to control those basement light separately adjusting the off time until you are in the stairway being sensed by your stairway occupancy sensor.

Three way switches would complicate and confuse. Really no need for three way switching when occupancy switching is used.

Hope this helps
