Can you split a 220 line in a junction box to run a hot water heater and a stove or do you have to dedicate a line for both? Thanks for the help!

You have to determine the amount of load for each unit. Either in amps or watts. Tell us the circuit breaker size and wire size of the circuit, and how many insulated wires are at the junction box. Are both 240V or is one 120V?

If this stove is a plug in unit then a water heater is forbidden to be on the same branch circuit. There is a rule in the NEC Article 210.23.A.2 that forbids any fastened in place utilization equipment that exceeds 50% of the branch circuit amp rating to be on a branch circuit with cord and plug connected equipment not fastened in place.
Good Luck
