I am currently adding outside lights,do I need to use weather proof boxes or can I use regular ones? We are having our house bricked and I am wanting to add lights by the garage on each side of the door and also on the front by the entrance door. thanks

When you hang your lights to your light box remember to caulk and seal that part of your lighting mount that touches your brick yet leave the bottom open in case moisture gets into the box and can drain out.
You may use the blue plastic box for a light weight light fixture. You may use a round plastic box for a normal yet heavier light fixture. Leave around 12" of loose Romex cable hanging out of your outside wall. The Brick layer will use this loose cable to position the light box to best fit the lay of his masonry. The plastic box will not rust and corrode and years later your screws will screw in and out when needed. If you use a steel box chances are years later you will need a brick mason to replace that steel box because the mounting screws will freeze to the threads and rust. When you try to remove the mounting screws from a metal box years later you will come out with a stub of part of your screws.
Hope this helps
