I have a sears model garage door opener and no wiring manual. I need to know what the black wire goes to (model #139.663953)

The model number does not help me. I don't have a manual for sears door openers either.
However if you have a simple sears door opener you most likely have a 120 volt cord to plug into the ceiling outlet. Then you most likely will have one set of screws to connect a small black 2 wire cable to and run across your ceiling to the door opener controller by your house door into the garage. Then you most likely have a second cable that will run from the door opener to an electric eye that shoots a light beam across your garage door about ankle high so that if someone breakes the light beam with their legs the door opener stops and does not come down on that person passing through the garage door.
There are also models available from sears that controls outside lights and inside lights and much more. Depends on the price range sears door opener you bought and how many gadgets this door opener has to offer.
Maybe someone else can hit the exact using that model number but while I used to be a Sears serviceman, I don't often work on sears door openers to know the model numbers.
Hope this helps some
