I am currently wiring a commercial building for a company that requires 3 phase 480 (277 to ground) @ 100 amps to test industrial humidity control equipment. I don't have a problem with that. The owners delivered a 480 to 120 transformer to the sight and asked me to use it without a regulator for the 120 single phase circuits in the building. I know this can be a serious problem due to the surges on 3 phase power. Does anyone have any recomendations.

Are you thinking of DC power supplies? Thats the application where regulation might be important.
Sometime customers might install a TVSS or surge suppresor on an AC circuit, but it is not required.
I am not familiar with regulators on 120V AC power.

I agree with Handy Ron, Sometimes with a lot of larger motors a capacitor bank is added to control the bounce of electricity due to inrush during large motor operations but this is normally not found on 480 volt systems. The transformer of the 480 to 120 step down should do fine for what you discribe with no further power control installed.

Handy Ron is right on the mark as I see it too.
