Hello, I am looking at a never installed Q-MARK UNIT HEATER (MUH-0708) To use in my garage. The specs say it is a one phase 208 volt heater. What do I need to do to hook this up to my 100AMP 220 volt service?

Thanks in advance, Butch

YOu need to provide more info. Is this a gas heater or electric heater? Look at the name plate on the heater. YOu should find the following information.

Volts
Phase
Amps or KW

YOu said single phase but stated a three phase voltage. We need to get more accurate info off your heater's name plate stated above. Then we can tell you what you need.

It is a electric heater called a unit heater that hangs from the ceiling in a garage or shop.

PH: 1/3
Volts: 208
KW: 7.5
Amps: 0.6 ?? is this right? It is what the tag says.
Hertz: 60

Controls: 24 VAC 1PH 60 Hertz

Thanks for any help you can give. I just need to know if it can be hooked up via 220 volt to a 100 amp service and what guage wire to use. Also I have a 60 amp disconect that I intent to rout it through.

Thanks, Butch

31 amp load approximate. I would install an 8/3wGrnd Romex cable protected by a 220 volt 40 amp double pole breaker. I am not sure whether you will need a neutral or not on this product. The control transformer may be 120 or 240 volt rated. The difference in voltage between the 208 volt three phase wye system and the 240 volt single phase should make little difference.

Big question now is how this unit must be adjusted from three phase to single phase. Look at the unit and tell us how many wires and what color wires are where the power is to be connected to this unit. Look on the name plate and see if there is a wiring diagram showning if you have to change any internal wires to change from three phase to single phase.

What we are looking for is if this unit must be internally converted to use single phase power. Telling me how many and what color wires are there to be connected to power should help. Also looking for a scematic single phase / three phase chioce of internal wiring is on that name plate.

YOu tag says 3/1 phase which tells us it is convertable and I am suspecting you will only find to insulated hot wires and a grounding conductor to hook to where the power is being connected.

I found that it has a internal block that you can change to three phase. It comes wired from the factory for a single phase so I guess I am good to go!

Thanks for your help, Butch
