Laundry tub by breaker box

I'm remodeling my laundry room and want to put the laundry tub on the same wall as the breaker box. Can I do that? How far from the box does it need to be?

I thought I was pretty handy with residential wiring - until I browsed your site. Now I feel like I don't know much of anything. What a great resource!

Sounds like if you read articles that showed you what you didn't know then you now know what you didn't know. Did I say that right? Glad you feel the web site is of value, hope it helps increase your knowledge.

There is a requirement of a 30" dedicated wall space along the wall required for that panel and a 36" clear approach allowing a reduction to 30" clear approach in existing installations. This 30" wide by 36" clear approach area is required to be maintained from ceiling to floor. No non electrical associated equipment is allowed in that clearance boxed area, not even a plumbing pipe if that pipe is within that clearance area. The panel must not be installed in a place of storage or in a bathroom or clothes closet.

The definition of a bathroom is a lavatory and any other plumbing item such as shower, toilet, etc.

A laundry tub could be desiganted as fullfilling the lavatory definition but you still have no problem unless a second fixture used for a bathroom would be present such as a toilet, tub, shower and the like.

Sounds like you are doing fine placing your laundry tub in close proximity of that panel as long as you have no other bathroom fixture in that room and as long as you maintain that 30" x 30" dedicated area for that panel.
