Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing: Has anyone used it, have any opinions about it or heard anything negative about this product? A plumber has recommended it to my neighbor for running a line in a 4ft crawl space for a new stove. He has an electric stove and is replacing it with a gas stove. My initial reaction was, what's wrong with having the plumber just run black pipe? It just seems that the black pipe would be a better product, just more of an inconvenience for the plumber to install. Anyone have any thoughts they're willing to share???
I thank you in advance for your input.

I guess you are talking about the flexible tubing, often with a yellow outside jacket. It is used a lot around here. Its advantage is about a 50% savings in installation time as opposed to black iron pipe. When installed by a certified professional (you cant buy the tubing unless you have attended the certification class) it would seem to be a valid alternative to black pipe.
You ask why not just use black pipe if its only a matter of inconvenience to the plumber.Well, all else being equal, only because that inconvenience is expensive, threading pipe, doping fittings, carrying that heavy stuff around. On average, the flex tubing claims it can be installed in half the time.In my book, that translates to considerable labor savings. Then again,if your plumber is working for free,I guess you mights well go with the black pipe.

Here is some CSST I do not recommend installing in this manner.
I will post the pictures of how I removed it all and replaced it with black iron like it should of been done to begin with.

Thanks for your input. I've shared your info with my neighbors. They are going to go with the black iron pipe. Thanks for helping them crystallize their thoughts on this issue.
