Hi again. I have an vintage "ericaphone" (circa 1970's) that I want to test and convert if possible. It has spade ends on the wires which are red, white, yellow and black. Does anyone know which colors are the "tip" and "ring"? Do I need to hook up all 4 wires?
I looked for this info on the internet, but no luck.
Thanks,
Linda

It would be most helpful if you could post what terminal number or letter each color conductor is connected to inside the phone. I'm guessing at this point that the red and white is one pair, and the yellow black is another. Did you try connecting red white and see if you have dial tone?

MD, There is no info inside the phone. I did try red/white and white/red combinations with no luck. This phone is made in Sweden which may mean the code is different than a US phone (?). There are people who refurbish these phones and I know they can be converted- so probably I can get the info. that way if need be. Just thought I'd throw my question out there as there is a lot of knowledge on this forum site.
Thanks

MD, There is no info inside the phone.

Huh? You mean none of the terminals that the cable connects to inside the phone has a letter next to it?

Nope - I unscrewed one of the connections thinking it might be coded there, but it's not. Looks like trying a vintage phone repair person might be the best bet.
Thanks so much for your time responding.
