I had a old faucet which was hard to turn off so I just replaced it. Now the new one is doing the same thing. And when I mean hard, I mean I can't turn off the water unless I turn off the supply. So I took it apart and reset the valve seat. It then would turn on nicely and then you hear a little thump and the valve seat is stuck in the up position(I believe). Any ideas with how to fix it. I have tried not turning my water all the way on, just maybe a 1/4 of the way and it still gets stuck. The faucet is in the back of the house so it is not close to the main line from the street. Please help!

What is the brand name of faucet, style and the like. This seems very odd that a brand new faucet would have this problem. If you are describing a sill****, then you need to use plumber's grease on all moving parts, make sure not to tighten the packing nut too much. Make sure the bibb seat screw is tight.

It is a glacier bay(Home Depot Brand). Here is what it looks like http://www.glacierbayfaucet.com/385014.html
I am putting it in my laundry room. The faucet I replaced was a moen so I would be surprised if it is b/c this one is cheaper. Also, I just figured out that it only happens on the cold side. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks for the help.

As crazy as it sounds, you need to take this new faucet apart and put new wearable parts inside of it. Those faucets are notorious for problems and I wouldn't be suprised if you have to come here in the future for other problems associated with that faucet.

Is it the type of faucet that is the problem(laundry room) or the fact that it is a glacier bay? Since I just bought it I would rather take it back and get something that will work.
