I have an Amana central ac installed in 2001. Until today the unit has worked great. When I came home I noticed that the air conditioning was on but blowing warm air. I saw that the circuit breaker tripped that powers the condensor but the blower in my attic was still operating. I turned the ac off and then reset the breaker. When I turned the breaker on the blower and condensor started up and it appeared everything was working however the system is still blowing warm air. Is there something I may have to reset. Thanks

Feel the lines coming out of the compressor. The larger one that is usually insulated should be cool and possibly damp. The smaller line will be warm. If the compressor is running and both lines are warm, you have a compressor problem or most likely a leak where your refrigerant has leaked out.

I had almost the same thing happen at my house. The indoor unit will keep running because it is on a seperate breaker than the outside A/C unit. What happened to mine was that the outdoor A/C fan kept running also but the compresser did not start running and it turned out to be that it was capacitor that helps the unit get going had burned out.

It sounds like your compressor took a nosedive. Sometimes, when the windings of the compressor motor fail all at once, they will trip the breaker as they short out. After that initial hard short, the fault is cleared, but the compressor doesn't work. It would take a tech installing gauges to determine for sure.
