Hi,have a 18hp fast twin, changed water pump, have good water flow,I just feel its to hot ,only after fast run, slow its fine, cant find any specs for discharge temps. I would use meat theremometer in discharge water if I could a temp range to go by,well thanks

If you dont have any running problems or starting problems and good water flow I wouldnt think there is anything going on out of the ordinary. Anything in particular your johnson is doing that has you concerned? I think they started making the fast twin 18 hp in 56 or 57 not sure. They are the points and condensor igniton technology. Other than checking your timing and gaps for correct specs, I'd say you are allright with running the motor.

So you have an IMP do ya. My that brings back many memories of their fine boats. They were built to last and pretty much bullet proof. Unfortunately they are no longer in buisness. IMP (Iola Moulded Plastics) built the IMP until the late 1990's when they were bought by a Florida company called International Marine Products (went bankrupt in 2001) which was certainly convienient and has added to the confusion of the orginal IMP of Iola. Actually IMP (Iola) was originally a builder of Redfish boats of Clarksville, Texas. When they went out of buisness in the 60's IMP of Iola, Ks became the owner of all the molds and continued production...changing the name to IMP Boats. Here is a link that provides some history on the company....

Rodger, Thanks for info on IMP boats but no pics my dad bought a 20' AZTEC in 71 new ,an had it for 8yrs,he passed away in the boats drivers seat with mom ,now the guy had class ,going with his 1st an 2nd love,so Ive had it since, new mahogeny under hard top & floor storage, have to get motor cover done this yr ,sun finally got it.BUT when you sent me to redfish, somthing kind of cool happened,TEXAS MAID,well when I was a wee lad that was our first boat 16' 2 port hole, hatch(my birth)under deck, not rain proof as I recall, well I found one 5yrs ago a fiesta and threw a 40 hp on just like we had,ah the memories, when the ice formed on dads rod tip he would say ,maybe its time to wrap it up for the year! Its not a head turner like the IMP,it really is a jewel,we go down our lake an fingers point ,never a better looking boat on plane, the little inline 6 (GM) purrs like the day it was made, over 2000 hrs on her now an still taking my girls sking an tubing. So thanks again for making my week, how cool is the power of the internet,Im outside buffalo,ny 15 min from lake erie ,niagara river,30 min from lake ontario, where our cottage is,so 3 boats is not to many here,oh yes 18hp on a 14 'crestliner, well Ive bent your ear long enough, ever get this way ,we got fish an worthy crafts to go in. Take care ,John
