Due to popular request, I posted pics of our house that we are restoring.
Quick background...THis house was built in 1956 by a popular doctor in the area. It is a U-shaped house with a inground pool in the U. They later enclosed the pool. The house origionaly was built very well. The pool room was done very poorly. According to neighbors, the roof leaked into the pool room since a few years after it was built. The house changed owners a few times (including being owned by several key people to some local history). It was repo'd sometime in 1995-96. We bought it in 1998 and have been SLOWLY restoring it ever since.
I'll post more pics and update this thread as I get time to find/scan/post pics. And as other projects get done. The first installments are pics of the house in general, and the roof remodel. I will get some "after" pics of the roof up when I get a chance to go up and take them.
Enjoy

No idea, but it was 2" thick in places. We threw down a bucket of coating right when we moved in to buy some time.

You arent the only one. Most people think its just a normal sized house (even without the pool). It was custom built, so anything goes

All the water damage was in the pool area, none directly to the house. All we had to do was some serious cleaning and painting and we moved in. They gave us the combo to the key box a few days before closing to get a head start on that. Only major issue was the laundry room due to a bad chimney cap. There were 3 layers of floor in there and the floor bowed up 3-4 inches in areas due to water damage. Both were fixed that year. Bathrooms are functional, but dated....on the list. Ditto with the kitchen, but I already took care of the electrical and the stove.

It took 60 squres to cover it.....soo, HELL NO!!!! sniper_1 smileyruno
We had someone do the whole roof project. It scared all but 1 contractor away. THe one who didnt run wanted to dump dura-last all over the back of the place. One of the ones who bailed endedup doing a similar project nearby, snuck back over here and took a 2nd look.. Our layout was similar to their layout. He was able to apply the same solution to our roof, he ended up getting the job.

It was done in the 60's to 70's, the answer was simple. Too many Pink Floyd concerts!!!
