Hoping someone may be able to assist me in replacing a wall switch with a dimmer switch. The wall switch has a black wire wrapped around a post, then going to the wall switch next to it and a red wire, nothing else. The dimmer switch has 2 black wires and a green wire. I tried a couple of different things, couldn't get the dimmer to work, how should I connect this? Thanks!

The one black wire that goes to both switches is the "hot" wire. This will connect to one black wire of the dimmer. The red wire will connect to the other black wire of the dimmer. The green wire of the dimmer gets connected to the green or bare ground wire in the box (if present).

If you were trying to wire this dimmer "hot" (while the breaker was still on or the fuse still in), you probably blew up the dimmer. You can't (shouldn't) wire these hot, or you stand a 75% chance of blowing the electronics inside up.
