air handling unit

I am wiring a air handling unit it has been a while sence the last one. I ran a 12/2 romex to it how does this unit get controlled. I dont remember running any other thermostat wires to it.

What kind of air handler is it? Commercial air handlers might get controlled from the line side, but residential euipment gets a stat wire run to it. Don't you have the big instruction packet that comes with it? You should also see a terminal strip or low voltage pigtailed wires in the wiring compartment on to which you terminate the stat wires.

it is a residential unit. The unit is not installed yet, that is the problem.
