nero burning software

I have nero burning 5.5 version, everytime I try to install the software I get the warning that there is an older version found on my computer, then it says, click to remove the older version then after removal this program will no longer be avaliable. I have had this software install on my computer for over a year and just recently uninstall it because I was having problems burning. I'm unable to reistall it.

Go to settings/control panel/add-remove programs/

1. uninstall anything listed under the name nero or ahead

2. check start/programs/ for anything listed under nero or ahead, click on any uninstall reference under these names.

3. look for a directory under the name "ahead" or "nero" , delete it if found. sometimes uninstalls will leave the directory that it was in still existing.

Should you have adaptic on your system, it was been known to conflict with some other burn software (the competition ?)

Should that not be it , there could be a reference left behind in the registry, in the event that you did buy nero , they may have a technical support line, otherwise don't call them. Their site may have a commonly asked questions database.

What burn software did you have prior to the latest software install attempt ?

There could be an entryin you registry that is triggering the message. Is the a "details" button on the message. It tell you exactly what it is detecting.
There could be NERO subdirectories. Try deleting them.

Download reg cleaner and run it http://www.verkkotieto.fi/jv16/shtml/regcleaner.shtml
This will clean up alot of mess
