I'm putting in a new toilet in a bathroom that was just tiled. The flange wasn't attached when the floor was tiled so the tile was done right up to the whole for the pipe. Can i put the flange on so it sits on top of the tile or do I need to chisle away the tile to make the top of the flange level with the tile?
Thanks in advance,
Tim

The flange is designed for the bottom of the flange to be level with the top of the finished floor. I your case I would set the flange on top of the tile. You dont say if this is concrete floor or wood. If this is ceramic tile I would set the flange and mark my mounting holes. With the flange temporarily installed as a guide I would drill through the tile with a ceramic bit. Remove the flange, apply your pvc cement and reset. Then anchor down with screws to the subfloor. If subfloor is cement use tapcon screws. Remember to makes sure your toilet bolts will line up with toilet hold down holes. It should look like this.....

Great! Thanks a ton. The floor is ceramic tile on top of cement board over wood.
Thanks again!
