Has anyone else besides me noticed a pretty steep dropoff in site visitors since the 'homewiringandmore.com' domain name expired?

Yes I notice this, and I was one of those people for two days. I thought the site was expired!!! :( I even was going to claim the Domain name. The problem: I kept the old address (Homewiring), and never thought to make sure the new name (Selfhelp) was added to my list of favorites. Soooooo, when I went to log in, I was told the site was expired.
Most DYI's, and past members may be going through the same thing. When the name changed, I should have entered this domain name into my favorites. Instead, I left the old name in place, and was re-directed untill two days ago. Us old timers hate change!!!!! But, without change, you get left behind, and I was one of those people who was left behind. :D

I wanted to phase out the homewiringandmore.com name, I just renewed the selfhelpandmore.com and selfhelpforums.com names for another year, but haven't renewed homewiringandmore.com. Just trying to cut costs where it can be. I figured within the last several months the common users would have caught on and changed their book marks by now. However selfhelpforums.com has been around much longer than when I started using the selfhelpandmore.com name, and homewiringandmore.com was previously being forwarded to selfhelpandmore.com and not directly to the forums.

...to use a redirect pointer when the URL is called upon along with a few words explaining that it has moved/consolidated? Expire it after a while.

I've noticed that electrical questions have slowed down, but the number of posts to the other forums has increased.
I was thinking that the nice weather was calling people out to their gardens and BBQs

I just spent this morning sending submissions to search engines / directories, etc., about 1100 or so around the planet, using submission software. Won't really know the results for a while as it take anywhere from a few minutes to a few weeks to get the site crawled. Can get immediate service, but that would cost a lot more $$$
Also have to go thru page by page and optimize it, as well as create doorway pages that are strong in one keyword, that will be take a while to find the time to do it.

I just renewed the homewiringandmore.com for another year, so much for cutting costs, but I found several references on the search engine in relation to some links that still exist to that domain, the forward should come back with the next couple of days.
