Wow! thats some nice fish. I know Wg is quite an accomplished fisherman and bet he has the fever after reading about those big ones. I'm very fortunate in that the last month or so I have been able to go fishing pretty much whenever I want. We have had one of those springs to remember. Water has been stable and clear for the entire spawning season. We have caught loads of crappie, white bass, walleye, and strangely....channel catfish. These crazy cats showed up on the lake dams (here in Kansas they are earthen with large rock covering their surfaces) this year in large numbers about the time the water approached 70 degrees. We have been catching these cats on twister tail grubs and road runners about two weeks now (they are spawning). Havent had any big walleyes most have been in the 20" range. Our walleye fishing is better after the spawn when they move to the mud flats to gorge themselves on shad. that time is fast approaching if not here already. I usually avoid the lakes on Memorial Day weekend but will be trying hard to get a bag of those hungry walleyes starting Tuesday.

I'm not into fishing, but live 40 minutes from Port Clinton. They have their walleye festival going on this weekend. For New Years Eve, they drop a giant walleye.. THey also get it out for this festival. The area is REALLY exploding latley. Good fun for the whole family. Cedar Point is about 25 minutes away from there. THere are 2 indoor water park resorts open near Cedar Point, with a 3rd under construction. Many smaller outdoor parks in Port Clinton. Put-In-Bay (home of the largest bar in the country) has their drinking water problem fixed. If anyone is looking for a good vacation, this is the area... Plus you can stop by and help me work on my house! crash_!
As for Lake Erie. This is all good news. Lake level is up. There was a large area of low to no oxygen in the middle of the lake.. Sounds like it is going away. There is some 'creature' (forget the name) that has been coming into the area inside of the large freighter ships. It has been eating the native fish in the Great Lakes. THey are still trying to contain it, but it is a real threat to the fish population. Doesnt sound like it has taken much out of the area... :D .There is a now-infamous nuclear power plant 20 minutes away. (The one that a few years ago brought the US the closest it has ever come to having a meltdown.) But thanks to that scare, it is probably one of the safest and up to date plants in the country. And the 3-eyed, glow in the dark walleyes, with feet, should disapear in a few years.
Oh, yea.. The only known seasonal Ponderosa Steakhouse is open for the season too!
