Ok... Its getting that time of the year again......grilling season (indoor grilling season for those of you in ohio...where spring is still hiding around the corner)
What is everyones favorite brand of BBQ sauce? (See, I told you this was important)
Mine are Buds. Local company, made in Lima, Ohio (http://www.budsbbqsauce.com). Distributed only in the area, but available by mail order.
In searching for a refill one day, couldnt find it, but did find out that the Montgomery Inn down in Cinci, OH, is selling their sauce. (This is one of the most famous rib joints around.)
Buds is alot more zesty then Mont. Inn's, which is alot sweeter. Im looking for something with more kick.. Suggestions? There is a place down in Texas called Rudy's. It is considered some of the better in that area. It has alot of kick to it.. But I dont have their info anymore to order it.

compute_1 WHO'S THAT?
:eek:YOU!!!!
The pool needs, inspected, painted, electrical updated, heater and filter serviced, and about 18,000 gallons of water. The room needs 4 sets of frames rebuilt for the sliding glass doors (2 4' panels per set), extensive water damage repair (luckily all cosmetic), the room insulated, ceiling repaired, and electrical work.
I'll supply the beer, meat and your favorite BBQ sauce (but no sauce for you till 1/2 way done with the project)
See you at 7:00 tomorrow? I'll need it done by monday.

Mr T...a friend of mine had a bbq last year---pretty good---i asked him yesterday---he used Butch's cajun rub & sauce. it's available here at Giant Eagle grocery or www.smackyourlipsbbq.com & on ebay.
also had bbq made from recipe from Dinosaur BBQ in syracuse - www.dinosaurbarbque.com ----they have some pretty good recipes on their site---i also bought one of their books.
Sweetwater tavern in downtown Detroit is good...if i lived as close as you, i'd be up there quite often...wings are excellent.
2 guys that i used to work with(1 retired,1transfered) made excellent bbq & sauce, but wouldn't give a hint of the recipe. the only thing i got out of one was how he cooked the ribs & that he used pickle juice mopped on to keep them from burning as he alternated from low to high side of grill.
a lot of bbq'ers buy some type of bbq sauce and doctor it to their taste.
i heard their are some good bbq places in Memphis...
My son-in-law has a masonry business & we're looking at some ideas for building a fireplace/bbq pit out in my backyard...not a priority project, so it'll probably be a year or 2 before that get's done.

All this talk about sauce and nothing but an inkling from xk about the grills you guys use. Anybody got a nice grill? Rotisserie? Mine stinks.
My neighbor just got one of these grills. I'm jealous. Oh well, once the garage is done and my deck, I plan on tapping off the gas line going to the garage and put in a natural gas grill...no more propane to fill.

bmw...I'm trying to pick up bits & pieces of info myself on how to bbq...the grill itself is one of the key pieces.
although probably most of us have a gas/propane grill for convenience, they aren't the thing to use if you want real bbq.
you need to use the charcoal type and not use the charcoal that lights with a match & don't use the starter fluid...you'll get that taste in whatever you're cooking.
i welded up a stainless steel grill for a bar that made a brick bbq pit a couple years ago...they used hardwood logs & cooked the meat indirectly for a long time.
maybe some others can share some tips/ideas

I got tired of buying BBQ sauce... too expensive!
So I make my own. It's not hard at all, here's the recipe:
Carolann's BBQ Barbecue Sauce
1 onion grated
1/4 cup butter
Cook together till tender Then add:
1 cup catsup
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon mustard
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
Optional: garlic or smoke flavoring
Simmer altogether for 20 minutes. Use right away or chill in the fridge. It lasts a long time.
