I ripped apart a bathroom and I'm redoing the subfloor. Once I get the plywood subfloor down, I'm going to put down backerboard to lay tile. Should I put the tub down first, then just lay the backerboard up to the edge of the tub. Or, should I lay the backerboard up under the tub so it's all even, then put the tub down on the backerboard? I'd prefer to lay the tub first if possible. Thanks for your help.

The main purpose of the CBU is to provide a non-shrink and stable/ solid surface for the tiles to adhere to, so there is no need for CBU under the bathtub. I would recommend you lay the tub in a bed of thinset to make it more rock-solid.
