I have a room in my house that's about 10 by 10...on one wall, towards the center of it, the floor slopes down about a half an inch as it gets closer to the wall. It starts sloping down about 2 1/2 feet from the wall, and it's about 6 feet across the length of the wall. I would like to carpet this room, but first I'd like to try to level it. I dont want to rip up the subfloor, but I was curious if anyone can recommend any type of floor leveler compound type stuff. I'm guessing most products are designed to level out small dips or holes in the floor. Is there anything that could be used to level such a big area of my floor? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I would figure out why its sagging, before carpeting it.
It will save you more money, then having to rip out that carpet later when it gets worse.
wait for others, I am sure they will have better suggestions on how to figure it out :)

the floor had water damage before but the previous owner repaired the plumbing, then redid the floor, but he screwed up on the floor repair but just left it. i don't think it will continue to sag

There are products that are "self-leveling". Basically, you mix them with water or an additive, and pour it out over the floor in the area you need to level. It slowly spreads out and helps bring things in line. You might try the local Home Depot or Lowe's, or try a flooring retailer in your area.

ok then :)
if you go to lowes the leveling compounds are in the flooring section.
I've used the armstrong brand, but I think its a bit expensive for what you get. but it does get the job done
There is another brand that comes in I think its 25 pound bags. I liked it a lot when I used it , I believe its more cement based. and goes farther then the armstrong did.
Either way I would use a masonry float to level it. Its not exactly self leveling as they claim, atleast that hasn't been my experience.

I would get under the floor and see what is going on. There could be strutural damage. If you level off your floor from above, and someone else comes along and see's the damage from under the floor, they may fix it, and now you will have a high spot.
Was the wall that this is near added? Is the floor bouncy there? If you bang on the wall does the wall feel weak? Any creeking/craking when you walk on the floor in that area? IF yes to any of these, you may have more problems then you think....Just a matter of time till they get worse.
Its easier to fix now then later....
