Cascade Action Pacs not dissolving

I have a Kitchen Aid DW and at the end of a wash cycle, the little action pac has not dissolved to release the soap. Is the water not hot enough? Does this unit have a water heater? How would I check this?

Is there a heating element down at the bottom of your washer? (there should be if its a recent model).

I'd get your water tested for hardness..

Ive never heard any good reviews on these things to begin with.......

I have been using them for about one year with no problems. Here in Mississippi we do not have any problems with hard water.

I had the same trouble, so I don't use them. I stick with conventional dish machine soap. The official line is that your dishwasher isn't heating hot enough, but I ran a load with a RTD probe in the dishwater, and had plenty hot enough water (near 175). I think that these packs need some more R&D.

the unit is about two years old. There is an element in the bottom.

When you open the dishwasher mid wash cycle, is there hot steam that comes out? Short of measuring the water temp, the hot steam would be a good indicator of whether your wash water is heating hot enough. Do you have some sort of "energy saver" option selected on the front panel of the dishwasher that keeps the heating element off by chance.

Jeff is the appliance guru. He'll be along shortly. I'm just asking what I hope are reasonable questions to narrow down things in the mean time.

Just peeked into google and only significant hit on a reviews of this is from epinions.com and for the most part they were favorable.. with few complaints..

Biggest complaint was the price..

My dishwasher (kenmoore/whirpool) has options to skip the high heat mode and a quickwash (no high heat)
