Granite quality

So my question is what makes the big difference with granite pricing. Is it the thickness of it or is there that big of a difference with the slabs that are cut from the quary?

I would imagine that the finish would have something to do with it as well.

Also the thicker it is the different edging can be done with it. That also would have some impact on price.

So if any one that has priced out granite for there kitchen or bathroom some insite would be great.
