Is there any other product on the market which is a competitor to great stuff? Is there anything that works better. Thanks bob

Got a problem with the can sealing itself shut 2 hours after the first use?

Ive used daptex (Dap's version) It is minimal expanding, and does not get as hard as great stuff. You can shape it while its still wet, and can tool it with just a puddy knife once dry. Good for places where you dont need structural foam.

Water cleanup too

How did you guess, :) Thanks

That is printed on the back of the can... but if you started spraying already, by the time you found that note, its already sealed off.

I dont use great stuff anymore. If i need a big gap filled, I will stuff it with newspaper or insulation adn fill the remainder with the dap stuff. Great stuff is tripple expanding if i recall. the dap is called minimal expanding. Ive heard of people using the great stuff between door jambs and the 2x4 frame of the door. THey put too much in and now their door sticks

Or worse... a homeowner acting as general contractor on one of my jobs did all 77 windows in the house before drywall. Now all the windows either won't open or are very difficult to open. Fun, fun.

77 windows.. was this your house MD?

I bet he didnt even chec the windows (cut the straps) till after the drywall was up and finished.

No, mine has just a little over 20, but you'd be surprised at how quickly the window count can get up there. Stop and count the number of windows in the next mid to high end house you see under construction. You might be surprised. Mind you, many openings that appear to be one large window are actually several or many window units installed together.

Unlike these box/mass produced homes that have NO windows on their sides.. It drives me nuts. But im sure the siding people love it. I gotta be able to look out any side of my house as needed.....even if its to look in someone elses windows......which brings up another thing....those 1/3 and 1/4 acre lots.

Speaking of foam.. Whats the word on putting foam around/under cast iron tubs for insulation purposes? Ive heard of it being done before. My wife always complains about a cold bath tub when she gets into the shower (we are thinking of remodeling, i wanna keep the tub, she wants a fiberglass tub)
