What is the best way to repair a valley in a roof ? This valley has shingles that come together from both sides. So it seems that the leak is where the shingles meet ?
Thanks

A certain amount of prayer may be involved...
Is this valley "woven" (the shingles of each side of the valley are alternately interwoven with each other), or is this an "open" valley, with tin or rolled roofing in the valley area with the shingles cut evenly back from the valley material on both sides? The answer to this question makes a huge difference in what your repair options are. Be advised also that leaks from any spot on the roof above the vallley will often show up dripping out of the valley on the inside, because the water got under the roofing material way above the valley. The actual valley might not be the actual location of the original leak. How old is the roofing material? What type is it? Slate, asphalt shingle, shakes, tin, etc?

The valley is "woven". Material is asphalt shingle. Looks like they replaced parts of the roof at different times. One side is 25 yrs old other side 10-15.

Is the leak on the 25yr old section? If so, I'd say that any repair you would do to this area would be a big-time band aid if it was even possible. The material is simply at the end of it's life. With any shingle with this much age, it's darned difficult to pry them up as necessary to replace defective ones without breaking the surrounding aged and brittle shingles.
