while we're on the subject of ladders...i saw an ad in the Home Depot paper for a SPECIAL BUY on an 8' aluminum stepladder for $49. While i was there yesterday, i looked at it - MADE IN CHINA.
across the street at LOWES was a WERNER...MADE IN USA for $49.
i know electricians prefer fiberglass, but if you need a ladder for other tasks...or for the wife to paint, etc. ;) , buy the one MADE IN USA.
ALSO...most of home depot's hand tools - wratchets, wrenches, screwdrivers are now made in taiwan
did you know? - Werner makes a 60' extension ladder...I'm not going up

I saw some painters using a long 3 or 4 section ladder once that must have been that long. It had wheels on the topmost fly section. Pretty cool. A regular 20' ladder can get rockin' and rollin' in a breeze. You'd get sea sick on a 60 footer, I'd think.

I've been up fully extended 40 footers in the past. I vowed never again. Get me a bucket truck next time!
