I inherited a bike that won't start. It sat for 1yr with gas in it (no stabilizer) and never started. It was in perfect running condition before that yr though, I can personally attest to that.
I replaced the battery, plugs(wires were fine), air filter and went over the bike and cleaned it up, but it won't start. It cranks strong, has a spark, but won't start. I can smell gas too when I use the choke and crank for awhile. The old plug was fouled, was wet and smelled of gas when I replaced it. I tried giving it gas, opening the throttle to lean the mixture out, everything.
I left the fuel line for last...I tried to turn the carb drain screw, but have partially stripped it cuz it won't turn. Is the carb seized up?
Is a yr long enough to mess up a carb? Does it sound like the gasoline "varnish" the carb? Is that a big job for one moderately mechanically inclined individual or should I let a shop do it?
Thanx for ideas
