replying here.....
Do you have more then 1 phone? Is the buzz in all of the phones?
LOok outside your house, there may be a grey box that says "network interface" on it. It can be opened at one screw only with a flat or phillips screw driver.
Open it up, and there is a phone plug in it. Unplug it, and plug in a KNOWN good phone. If there is still a buzz, call the phone company and tell them that you did this and still have the buzz. The problem is on their end, and you should not have to pay for it.
If the buzz is gone, plug the jumper back in, and plug that known good phone into your bad jack. If you still have a buzz, the problem is in your house. Check your phone bill to see if you are paying for or have a inside wiring maitenance plan. Phone companies like to sneak this in on you without you knowing it.
Repost after you did the above, and we'll go from there.......

I have a phone touch tone wall phone that has developed a buzzing noise, making it impossible to hear anyone speaking. Is this something that could be repaired? I really would like to keep this phone as it has extra large numbers that are easy to see & I did pay a lot for it. Anyone have any idea how much it would cost to fix. Thanks, Claire.
When did the buzz start? Did you have a phone in that jack before and how did it work? Have you tryed any other phone in that jack and what are results? Is new phone wireless and what frequency does it work on.. 900mhz or 2.4G or 5.8G.. this info is on the box or in your install manual. All this helps to isolate the problem.

I get rid of mine once in a while by sending the 'sounds' to the Caymans (since Ivan, I'll have to find somewhere else). Trouble with that xkvator, is like any squeak it keeps coming back!

Hmmm...sounds like an expensive short term fix Jack...but, on the other hand, if I went to the tropical paradise instead..... .....or there has to be something less expensive.....duct tape? :D
wotagen - sorry for jumping in on your thread...are you making any progress troubleshooting?
