avr for honda generator

I recently bought a 82 class c with a honda ev 4000 generator with 32 hrs
on it, but has a bad avr part no. 31410-895-003 which is listed as no longer available thru honda, is their a replacement or sub for this part, i notice some various other models use identical avr in appearance to this avr, but at 300.00 plus a little expensive to experiment with any help would be appreciated.

Would appreciate if you could give me indication on how to determine if the avr is faulty. My generator (a honda ET4500) is giving only 3.6v on its output. All windings have been tested and found ok. I believe, that in Malta, the Honda AVRs are available.
