Honda 18hp runs with choke only

I have a 18hp on an auger, it will run with choke on but dies as soon as you try to turn it off, even a bit. It is a no adjust carb, I think, there is no mixture screw for the gas. I have had it apart and cleaned it, but maybe not good enough?! Any suggestions?

If you have a bowl on the bottom of the carb remove the bowl. You should find a brass nut in the bottom of the carberator. Remove this nut. You should have a tube or long set of screws and shaft attached to that brass nut. Clean the holes in the side of that brass tube and clean out all crap in that cavity of the carberator by flushing it with liquid under pressure such as a rubber ball and shaft.

Clean the bowl and any other parts of the carb that may plug that brass pick up tube again.

Then empty and flush out gas tank and gas line.

Try running again.

Thank you. I didn't think that brass nut came out of there. It was just too tight. The motor works well again!
