1992 johnson 175

i have a johnson 175 on a pro-line boat the motor has been acting up on my last fishing trip it was giving the no oil alrm we verified the vro and replaced the power pack but the motor still wont go above 2500 rpm please help thanks dustin

Sounds like the oil pump gear has stripped out overheating your engine and causing scoring. I would take it to a well known dealer and have it inspected for damaged cylinders due to lack of oil.

That seems to be a common problem with those oilers. I know of several engines that lost the gear and no oil damaged the engine requiring an overhaul with new cylinders.

The give away for me causing my reply is the maximum 2500 RPM and no oil light. The two often says the above damage. Hope I am wrong but I suspect it correct.
