I had a small leak in my bathroom after the house was built. The leak was fixed but a small crack remains in the ceiling where water came through. The ceiling is textured, looks like with some kind of tool or brush. What is the best way to fix this? Its a very small crack, 1/16 of an inch, but it runs about 24 inches. Thanks

My home also has textured ceiliings as well as walls which makes it a real challenge when I need to blend any remodel work in. What you could do is try to imagine what tool or type of brush was used and mimic that. Some guys use a wide brush thats a bit more course than others, the type that may be used to apply tar to joints in driveways, and some use finer brushes. In my house, they simply used the spackling blade, creating swirls in opposing directions. If you think you've found the right brush or tool, try it out on a piece of scrap plywood or drywall first, using some spacking compound of course. This way, you can narrow it down to the right one.
