I have a techumseh 8hp, about six years old. I just got it. When I checked it over the the fuel when turned on would just fill the bowl so much it would pour out this little hole on the side. Now I played with the tab for the float and no fuel goes in the bowl, that is determined when I push up on the little drain spring nothing comes out. I too the carb apart and soake ina solvent cleaner, maybe I should do that again. Any way the question is, when the bowl is off and the float is hanging where should it rest? I have worked on many engines in my day but now I/m stumped.

If you have the carb off tip it upside down. The float should now sit flat square with the carb. Make sure when you put the bowl back that the indent in the bowl is lined up where the float sits at rest. Otherwise it may run out of fuel under full load.

Thank you very much, once my wife gets out for a bit I will have time to play with it.

Well the good news Is it will start without using starting fluid now BUT the bad news is it keeps overflowing. When I turn on the fuel the bowl fills and keeps on going, I have the float adjusted right, maybe I have to keep playing with the tab a little a at time. Any suggestions?
