I was trying to replace the battery on my 2000 VW Jetta Diesel (TDI). There is a metal hinge that firmly holds the battery down onto the tray. I was trying to unscrew this when my ratchet extension came off and fell under the motor (there is some sort of cover) - I can't reach it so I'm out one 13 mm socket and extension for the time being.

PROBLEM: I don't have any more 13mm sockets - any ideas on a quick way of loosening the bolt so I can get the dang battery out?

TIA

13mm is about as close to 1/2" as you are going to get .51 vs .50 so with a little help a 1/2" socket will work...I've done it. When you do get the bolt out re-tap the threads to accept an American standard thread. God...I hate the metric system!!!!
