Went to the supply house the other day to get a couple 6V batteries for some emergency light units. I found that it was cheaper by a couple dollars to buy the whole light unit and rob out the batteries. This way you then have two spare heads and a spare charging board for stock or to replace bad boards or heads on other units. Just thought I'd pass that along to anyone who might be servicing emergency lights and exit signs.

Yep, thats true. At Ford thats how we always purchased them....after about ten years and replacing dozens of batteries we had enough spare parts for exit and emerg. lights we probably could have repaired the lights in every Ford warehouse in the system for years to come. Instead Ford chose to throw them away when they closed the building. Go figure...
