View Full Version : New Roof Forced Air Heating/Cooling

I currently have a large single room in my basement that has a single forced air vent on one end. I'm planning to divide the room into 2 sections (to create an office) by putting a wall in the middle. This will leave the new room without any vents.

It would be extremely difficult to run a new vent over to this room given the already low ceiling (86" with a beam in the middle parellel to where I want to put the wall at 78").

I was thinking that I could put a vent with a fan on one end and an open vent on the other side to circulate air into that room.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

You might consider reducing the outlet of that one heat vent with a "T" extending the heat duct to a second heat vent in the second room. The first existing heat vent was probably sized for the entire basement. This would mean you should be able to split that vent to heat both rooms with two smaller vents. Use flexible fiberglass vent hose to extend allowing this flex heat duct to pass between the floor joists above the I beam.

Just an idea
