I have a whole house filter and the filter is designed for odor and sediment. I have to replace it every 3 to 4 weeks. I was told there was a tank looks like a argon tank that can be used to fix this problem anyone know what that is and if it is hard to install myself?

You're asking a question that's right up my alley. There are two ways that rotten egg smell (sulphur) is generally removed from well water. The first is chlorine injection and the second is with the "argon tank" device, or more properly it's a gigantic carbon filter unit.

The first method, chlorine injection, a tank of chlorine (bleach) is connected to a small metering pump which is connected to the water line where it enters the house. Each time the well pump is energized, so is the metering pump. This puts tiny squirts of chlorine into the water supply to neutralize the suphur. This method is cheap, but does require some maintenance (keeping the chlorine tank topped off) and takes a little tinkering to initially get set up so that you aren't drinking bleach water.

The second method, the "argon tank" carbon filter is basically a gigantic version of what you already have. It works very well, and it "backwashes" itself (much like a water softener) in the middle of the night to wash out the carbon media. The media in the tank lasts for years and years before the media needs replaced. You buy these units in gallons per minute that you use at your house at any one time. They are a little pricy, but maintenance free. Check this link (http://www.homewaterexperts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=UISCE&Category_Code=IronMN) to learn more from one vendor of these items.

At my house, I run A LOT of chlorine injection (for a few reasons) and have the carbon tank after the chlorine injection to "polish up" the water a little and remove most of the chlorine that I had to add. See the pic below of the device you ask about:
