I am building a new bathroom and I am at the point that I will have to decide where lights will go and receptacles. My question is if I decide to place a vertical bank of lights on each side of the mirror what type of box to use and would it be in the center of the lights. Does the frame of the lights cover up a normal box

If you are installing a light bar with several bulbs exposed on each light bar installed on each side of the mirror, normally these light fixtures are designed to be the light box with the junction done inside the light fixture using a Romex connector for the cable to pass directly into the back of each light fixture. You would most commonly run power to the light switch, then run a cable from the light switch to the first light then run from that first light to the second light. This would mean the second light would have one cable entering the back of the light fixture used as the light box. The first light fixture would have two cables entering the back of that first light fixture used as the light box. The wire nutting would be done within the light fixture itself. Check the light fixtures you plan to use to confirm this is type wiring style is designed to be used.
Hope this helps
