my craftsman snowblower works fine in light snow conditions. when i try blowing heavy snow (like a snow bank) it bogs down. I think it might be the govornor. can i adjust this to increase power to engine when it meets this condition? hope i didn't confuse anyone.

Might be that the horse power of gas motor is not enough to take that big of a bite of the snow you are trying to feed it.

To check or adjust the governor you should find a lever on the side of the motor passing through the crankcase. This lever should have a linkage directly connected to the throttle of the carborator. To adjust it you should loosen the adjustment screw on the govenor lever. Then push up on the main block that tightens to the lever at the same time pull throttle to full speed wide open position. Then retighten the adjustment screw.

Before you try to adjust the governor you should check operation of the govenor first. To confirm throttle is going to wide open by govenor when RPM is loosing speed take of the air cleaner. Push the blower into a snow bank providing enough load to see the RPM fall in speed. At this instance have someone watch the throttle of the carb. If the throttle opens to full open position then you govenor is already adjusted properly. Then suspect your horse power may be a bit short.

Hope this helps
