Well, got back yesterday from our Smithville Lake bass tourney. Took three days off but lake is close to home so at least slept in my own bed at night. Wednesday caught lots of keepers on buzzbaits and pop-r's my partner had one that went 6 lbs. 8oz. on our scale. You have to have a scale in order to cull during a tournament.....if you catch a limit, maybe I need to just throw the scale away. Anyway it has been raining since Wednesday and the fishing went south with the weather. Nothing was catching fish. Tourney day (Sunday) we caught one keeper that weighed two pounds. Jeeeez that was humbling. When the bite was going on Wednesday we were fishing the grass beds, water temp was 67 degrees and clear. Tourney day water was 65 and stained, raining and the topwaters werent working at all. I started pitching a worm and finally caught this small fish about an hour before weigh in. We still finished 6th out of 35 boats with one fish to weigh in. We would have been 7th but one team brought a short fish to the scales and had a two pound deduction....also they got citation from fish and game who were standing by just watching the weigh in. Anyway got drowned (need a new rainsuit) and humbled on our home lake.....anybody know a rainsuit brand that keeps you dry when running down the lake in downpour?

Sorry about you humbling experience but as they say a bad day of fishing etc. At least you placed. Sounds like many didn't catch a fish at all. Boy can those fish be rude at just the wrong times thumbing their nose up at you. Imagine and you had all new lures too.
Hey best answer I got for a rain suit to keep you dry in a downpour as you are running high speed down the lake is called a cuddy cabin and a not so smart fishing partner driving the boat !! Did that help ????
Love those rain suits that worked just fine in 2 minute showers but when the big long rains come in the rip right up the crotch. Never happened to me though. Ya right lost count how many times I came in a drowned rat cold and miserable but love that fishing !!!
Glad you could go and have some fun !

Yes, several got skunked, there was one other boat that had a fish smaller than ours. The rest zippo....Funny thing one father had his 10 year old son fishing with him and his son caught their only bass, that was a little bigger than ours, that was one proud young man!!! Again humbled.....but was glad to see that big grin on that boys face.
Oh yes I know about the crotch tearing out of your rainsuit, I have several pairs with that characteristic....
