This may not be the right forum, but can a ball type Hyd. inline check valve be use in a pneumatic setting? I ask because I'm setting a a high volume compressor system that will be using 1.5" pipe and cannot find pneumatic check valves that big...only hydraulic.

You mention a ball check. I'm not so sure that you'll get very good service from a ball check for a pneumatic application. For pneumatic air logic applications, a disc type check is almost always used. In fact, a pneumatic disc check and a hydraulic disc check are almost identical in construction. The only difference is the differential pressure (sometimes called "cracking pressure"). For sensitive air logic applications, a .005 psi differential pressure is typical. For hydraulic check valves, a 10 to 15 psi differential is typical. So... the answer is that it depends on your application. If you can tolerate the 10 to 15 psi differentai, you're in business. If this is for any sensitive application, then you really should get a pneumatic check. Valves of the larger sizes are available from companies such as Marotta (http://www.marotta.com/DataSheets/CV550.htm).
