hi guys,

i'm new here i thought i'd give it a shot to see if anyone can help me cause i couldn't find the info searching the net..

i got ALCATEL SpeedTouch ADSL Router, along with it came a 2m rj11 cable. i got a long distance from where the phone jack to the room i want to use internet, so i bought a telephone cable of 20m which will do.
now the problem is that the 2m cable has 4 different colors; black, red, green, yellow.. while the 20m that i bought has; orange, white/orange, blue, white/blue.! i got the rj11 connectors and the crimping tool, but i don't know how to do it... i'll appreaciate it if anyone can help me..

thanks in advance.

Easy. Rename your odd colored conductors red, black, white, green. Then crimp them in the same positions as your 2m cable to make your extended cable. Color does not matter, just position. Usually, you'll only be using the 2 center conductors, but not always.
What is the model number of the router? Wireless or hardwire? How are you connecting the router to your computer; USB, PCI network card? How many telephone numbers work at your location?
