In the partially-finished basement I just moved into, some of the outlet/switch holes in the wallboard are too large. This causes the devices to go too far in the wall to look right when the cover plates are added.

Is there a better way to bring the devices out level with the wall, other than just stacking washers?

Little green outlet spacers are available at the big box stores in the electrical section (usually with the wire nuts and electrical tools). These are slipped over the outlet screw behind the little steel plate on the outlet, you add enough to bring the outlet forward enough to be flush to the drywall.
