need help replacing switch & fan/light

Hi everyone, first time posting here. I removed a ceiling fan/light and variable switch and would like to replace it with a single pole light switch and light. I don't really know what to do with these wires, can someone help?

At the ceiling.
Remove the two pigtails from the white wire nut and connect your fixture white there.
Connect the fixture green or bare to the bare wire.
Remove the short pigtail and cap the balck wire.
Connect the red to your fixture black.

At the switch.
Cap the black
Connect the white and red to the switch.
Ithe switch has a ground screw connect the bare.
